1. Introduction

Deniz Maral ("Developer", "we", "us", or "our") operates the MarAI Keyboard application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

To be absolutely clear, MarAI Keyboard does NOT collect, store, or transmit to our servers:

• The actual text you type using the keyboard
• Passwords, credit card numbers, or any sensitive information you enter
• Your contacts, messages, or communication content
• Your location data
• Your browsing history or app usage patterns
• Personal identifiers or user profiles

3. Local Data Storage

The App stores certain preferences and settings locally on your device:

3.1 User Preferences (Device Only)

• Keyboard theme and appearance settings
• Language preferences and enabled languages
• Keyboard layout preferences
• Sound and haptic feedback settings
• Favorite emojis and emoji skin tone preferences
• Auto-correction and suggestion preferences

3.2 Learned Dictionary (Synced via iCloud)

The App maintains a personal dictionary to improve suggestions:

• Learned Words: Words you use frequently (stored without the context in which they were typed)
• Word Patterns: Common word pairs to improve prediction (e.g., learning that you often type "thank" followed by "you")

4. iCloud and CloudKit

4.1 What Is Synced

The following data is stored in your private iCloud container:

• Learned words and their usage frequency
• Word pair patterns (bigrams) for improved predictions

4.2 Your Private iCloud Container

This data is stored in a private CloudKit database accessible only to you:

• Only you can access this data through your iCloud account
• We (the Developer) cannot access your private iCloud data
• The data is encrypted by Apple both in transit and at rest
• The data syncs only between devices signed into your iCloud account

4.3 Disabling iCloud Sync

You can disable iCloud sync for the App:

• Go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud
• Toggle off MarAI Keyboard

When disabled, your learned dictionary will only be stored locally on each device.

4.4 Deleting iCloud Data

To delete your synced data from iCloud:

• Delete the app from all your devices, or
• Use the "Clear Learned Words" option in the App's settings

5. On-Device Processing

The keyboard's core features work entirely on your device:

• Word suggestions use on-device processing
• Language detection uses Apple's Natural Language framework (on-device)
• Auto-correction happens locally

6. Third-Party Services

6.1 Apple iCloud/CloudKit

Your learned dictionary syncs via Apple's CloudKit service. Apple's handling of your iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Key points:

• Data is encrypted end-to-end for most iCloud services
• Apple cannot access data in your private CloudKit container
• Data is stored on Apple's servers in accordance with Apple's privacy practices

6.2 Apple App Store

If you make an in-app purchase (Pro version), the transaction is processed entirely by Apple. We do not receive, process, or store any payment information.

6.3 TestFlight (Beta Testing)

If you use the App through Apple's TestFlight program, Apple may collect diagnostic and usage information according to their TestFlight Privacy Policy.

6.4 Third-Party Libraries

The App uses open-source libraries (such as EmojiKit) that operate entirely on-device and do not collect or transmit any user data.

7. Children's Privacy

The App does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age. The learned dictionary contains only words and word patterns, not personal information. Parents can feel confident that their children's communications remain private.

8. Data Security

Your data is protected by multiple layers of security:

• Local Data: Protected by iOS's built-in security (device encryption, app sandboxing)
• iCloud Data: Encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest
• No Developer Access: We cannot access your local data or your private iCloud container

9. Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

• View Learned Words: See your learned dictionary in the App's settings
• Delete Individual Words: Remove specific words from your dictionary
• Clear All Data: Reset your entire learned dictionary
• Disable Sync: Turn off iCloud sync to keep data local only
• Uninstall: Deleting the App removes all locally stored data
• No Account Required: There is no account with us to delete

10. International Users

The App is available internationally. Your learned dictionary data may be stored on Apple's iCloud servers, which may be located in various countries. Apple's data handling practices and international transfers are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

10.1 GDPR Compliance (European Users)

For users in the European Economic Area:

• We do not collect personal data on our servers
• iCloud data is managed by Apple under their GDPR commitments
• You can exercise data subject rights through iOS settings and the App

10.2 CCPA Compliance (California Users)

For California residents: We do not sell personal information. The learned dictionary data synced to iCloud is not shared with or sold to third parties.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Effective Date" at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
